With predominantly local hops, Gladfield malts from Canterbury and slightly above-average alcohol content, our red IPA has the same confidence & individuality that characterise our own former colony.  Tantalising passionfruit aromas give way to a delightful & unexpected combination of berries, tart ruby grapefruit and a comforting toasty malt on the palate, rounded off with a satisfying, sustained finish.

three boys oyster stout 6.5% abv stout

Doctors once prescribed stout as a revitalising tonic, while brewers enhanced their potency with additional ingredients, like oysters, which had desirable properties of their own.  The Three Boys Oyster Stout contains select malt and hops to produce a beer that is rich and complex.

renaissance elemental 6% abv porter

Originally the beer of choice for workers in London's produce markets, the beer was a mixture of the previous nights slops that the "porters" would drink when they clocked off at dawn.  Porter is also Andy's all time favourite beer style.  Brewed in the modern "robust" style, Elemental Porter is a rich, full-bodied brew with plenty of dry, dark, chocolate and roasty malt flavours which gradually give way a cleansing hop-driven finish.

Classically brewed lager created from a blend of NZ premium malts and Nelson hops.  Fermented with traditional bottom fermenting yeast, Moa Original shows an array of smooth velvety characters on the palate but also has a refreshing floral nose.

pan head 5.6% abv apa

Real kiwi hop horse power, a long aromatic list of hops like centennial, citra & simco.  It will lead you to expect massive bitterness and sensory hop presence, and you wouldn't be too far off in that expectation at all.  One for the hop heads.

black duck porter 4% abv black porter

Burnt flavours of toffee, burnt caramel, coffee and chocolate characterise this dark ale.  brewed with 5 malts in 18th century london style, it has an extended maturation process to develop complex and robust flavours.

Wheat beers have been around for centuries, but you can still startle unsuspecting new zealanders with a good one.  most malt beers are barley-based, but a portion of wheat in the mash results in a sweeter, cloudier base.  in combination with a weinstephan yeast, this produces distinctive flavours of ripe banana, vanilla and clove.  (don't be alarmed, they all do that).  hop additions are used to balance the sweetness, but things never get bitter like the australians when they lose the cricket.

We're pretty sure hopwired is the first bottled new world india pale ale made with nz grown pale ale malt and 100% unique nz hops.  The kiwi hops used in hopwired produce something more like a tropical punchbowl: passionfruit, limes, oranges and sauvignon blanc grapes to name but a few.

You can only drink so many beers in a lifetime, so you better make each one count.  that's where we can help.  because at epic we're obsessed with creating big hop-fuelled beers.  this takes a shed-load of skill.  it also takes a shed-load of hops. in fact there are 23 crammed into this bottle.  many brewers would call that 'insane'.  we call it flavour.

Agrassy NZ-hopped aroma featuring hints of roasted malt is supported by a full-bodied, red coloured malt base and a pleasant NZ-hopped bitterness to round off. a big, malty red ale uplifted.

Originally czech inspired, our nz pilsner is a showcase of kiwi hops.  generous additions on nz motueka & riweka hops provide a new world twist to this ancient classic.  this is a very hoppy lager!
